Welcome to all the parents and carers of Frogston Primary School. Here you will find information about the Parent Council, and how you can get involved with your child’s education and learning opportunities.
All parent and carers automatically become members of the Parent Forum at their child’s school. As a member of the Parent Forum, you can expect to:
- Receive information and updates about the school and its activities
- Hear about what partnership with parents means in our school
- Be invited to get involved with the school in ways and times that suit you
- Identify issues you would like the Parent Council to work on with the school
- Be asked your opinion by the Parent Council on issues relating to the school and the education it provides
- Enjoy being part of the Frogston Primary community, and getting involved in the life of the school in whatever way possible.
The Parent Council is the formal representative body for Parents & Carers of children attending the school. They decide how their representatives are chosen and how the Parent Council operates. Parents & Carers are encouraged to volunteer or put themselves forward to be choses as representatives of the Parent Council if they wish.
The main aims of our Parent Council are:
- to promote close co-operation and communication between parents and school staff
- to promote equality and fairness
- to study and discuss matters of mutual interest relating to the education and welfare of pupils
- to engage in activities which support our community and advance the education of pupils attending the school
- to raise funds for the school, for the benefit of pupils attending the school
To receive updates from the Parent Council, please ensure you download the school app, and follow the below instructions to ensure you receive messages issued by the Parent Council.
Frogston Parent Council have a public Facebook page where they share useful information on education, the community and other resources for families with children, and a private Facebook Group for Parents & Carers only to discuss matters relating to school specific matters.

As the school grows, the Parent Council will review their current ways of working to ensure it remains effective & inclusive. An AGM will be held in October of each year to approve any changes to the Parent Council constitution, and to elect Parent Council and Committee members for the following year.
For further information about Parental Involvement, please visit Scotland’s Parental involvement organisation, www.connect.scot. As a school in the City Of Edinburgh Council, we have automatic membership, and any parent or carer at our school can register to become an individual member.
